It’s time for a Broadway newcomer to stare down the odds and seize the day! Jeremy Greenbaum will make his Main Stem debut when he steps into the role of Davey in the Tony-winning musical Newsies beginning April 1. Greenbaum will play the role temporarily through May 18, stepping in for original cast member Ben Fankhauser.
Greenbaum has appeared off-Broadway in The Fantasticks, as well as Prospect Theater Company’s Tamar of the River. His additional theater credits include Dremwork’s Madagascar Live! on tour, as well as regional credits at Miami Theatre Center, The Gretna Theatre and more.
Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged boys, who dreams of a better life far from the hardships of the streets. When publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike.
Newsies currently stars Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, Liana Hunt as Katherine, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer and LaVon Fisher-Wilson as Medda and features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Kinky Boots and Casa Valentina’s Harvey Fierstein.
